Is there a way for a visitor to print a recipe that I've put up, as opposed to printing the page, with all the text, etc.? Haven't noticed it on anyone else's blogs yet, but if there was a little tag or something at the end of the recipe that said "Print This Recipe," that would be a nice feature so they don't get all that extra chatter around it.

Okay, it's kind of complicated, but I do this on my site (http://www.deliciousdelicious.com). My much more knowledgeable friend helps me set everything up and this is how he explains it to me:
ReplyDeleteEach recipe on my site is set in its own div class. When I type a recipe into my entry, I type the div class code around it. We also set that class to have a box around it to set it apart from the rest of the entry.
Once you've done that, use a different css stylesheet to display it as a printable entry. To show only the recipe, he basically set the stylesheet to hide everything except what is in the recipe div class.
Finally, use a javascript to print the contents of that window.
That's how I understand it. Honestly, I don't know all the codes to do all that, but that's the basic premise. I hope it helps...
Hmmmm, well there are several different ways. The best way would be the author making a word document or PDF file with a pretty recipe version all laid out and available for download. This would be most professional and the best way for your logo, contact information to be received by your reader. You'd have to upload this by FTP to your site and create a link within your post.
ReplyDeleteThe other, easier way would be, while in your browser (I use IE for this specifically) click, select and right click on your selection and choose PRINT. This will open up your PRINT dialog box, find the little button where you can choose SELECTION (prints what you selected only) and print that.
Or you could, while in IE with everything SELECTED, choose COPY and paste it in to Word. While in word you could make it all pretty and nice, then print that.

This is probably not exactly what you are looking for but...In blogger if you link to the actual entry (permalink) by clicking on the time posted then it will print only that entry. That way you don't end up with pages and pages of entries.
