Abbreviating "About Me"

I know this is a terribly elementary question but here goes. I'd like to have just a sentence or two, at most, of my "About Me" blurb to show on my main page. A viewer would then click on a link to view the complete text. Is there anyway to do this? I've been looking through Blogger Help and can't find anything.

    Christine, your bio is really LONG. A suggestion, why not make it into a post? Then you can link to it in your mini bio.

    Thanks for writing Amy. I made the bulk of my bio into a post and have tried putting a link on my main page profile - failing miserably. I'm so tech challenged! Can anyone help? I've lost my Blogger for Dummies manual.
