Very weird link

Something odd, puzzling, has happened, and I wonder if anyone could throw any light on it. I have discovered a link to my blog, apparently in Australia, which is a single page inviting people to an Easter barbecue, giving an address which looks real, a telephone number. At the bottom is a list of possible guests, all of which are hyperlinks, one of which says Joanna, and links to my blog.

I do not have any known connection with anything on this page ... I am puzzled as to what it's about (it's not like I blog about barbecuing, or anything). Can anyone throw any light on it? the domain name is odium ...

n with the clue you provided, I can't find the link you are referring too.

Context may help flush this situation out, though off the top of my head it sounds like link spam.

Link spam ... that sounds right ... can someone explain to me how it works and what the spammers get out of it? This looks different from the normal link spam pretending to be a blog ...

I haven't seen the page, based on the info you gave us.

But basically, anyone can link to your blog and there's nothing you can do about it.

If you're noticing a lot of click throughs, maybe investigate, but how it can be bad for you is beyond me at the moment.

I get the impression that this is to generate ad revenue. If your blog allows pingbacks, the link to your blog on the linkspam page will place a link to it on your blog (I hope this is making sense.)

I've had to deal with a few of these pingbacks in the recent past. Whenever I ascertain that their page is just a junk page and if it has "Adsense" on it, I remove their pingback from my site and report them to Adsense as probable spammers.

I doubt that it's bad for us to be on these linkspam pages. I just like to make sure that the spammers aren't gaining anything from me....
