Twitter

Is anyone using Twitter? I just signed up this morning and added a link on my blog. I like the idea of using it the way Derrick does (of Obsession with Food) to update what I've been cooking, eating, etc.

Thoughts? Also if you are letting people follow you, please let me know so I can follow you too!

  2. ...though now that you mention it, I think I'll create a specific Twitter account just for my food blog. Eatables is my new user name.

    Anyway, what's yours?

  3. I just started, but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it up (I figured I'd do a month or so to see if was working out before I tell my readers).

I got by candyblog if you want to check it out.

  5. Hi Amy,

I recently read a post on twitter on
    http://michaelmartine.com/
(this is the person who set up my blog)

I am new to twitter and think it is kind of strange, but my computer friends assure me it is a future trend and to just get on board.

    All the Best

  7. I'm there as silverbrow.

It's a great tool and definitely make it public - no point in having it private.

  8. I should add, for those with blogs a great tool is twitterfeed.

Very basically it's a tool that updates twitter when you post on your main blog. It means your twitter followers know when you've posted. Good way to get people to your site.

If you like twitter, I recommend as Amy has done incorporating it into your site. I'd also take a look at tumblr. It's particularly useful if you want to give your blog readers an easy way to read your blog from a phone/blackberry etc. If you want an e.g., see my tumblr page here.

  13. Thanks for the Twitterfeed link, Silverbrow. I was wondering if people did that manually, but knew there had to be something that'd do it automatically.

  14. I am on twitter - http://www.twitter.com/rosso - "rosso" is my username.

I encourage everyone to use it but I am NOT using it as a second RSS feed to notify when I have new posts on my blog - it's more of a conversation tool than that!

I'm not yet connected the blog via twitterfeed though. Have to check that out.

  17. Since I posted this, there's been a great flurry of food bloggers joining Twitter or just posting more often.

It's fun getting mini updates from bloggers. If you've considered twittering, come join us!

  18. I'm also on Twitter at twitter.com/andreasrecipes.

I like the idea of twittering little updates about what I'm cooking on my blog rather than creating blog posts each time.

Have you guys heard of qoutably.com ? It is a great site for twitter'rs who have alot of replies or follow alot of people. It shows you all the conversations of your twitter and those you are following, in thread like view. And you can post directly from the site...

  24. I have been using twitter for a couple of days now and I already have an opinion. Ha! May be diferent to some opinions already cited here.

I have found that I like the voyeuristic aspect of twitter a great deal.

I have found I like most of all to follow people I actually have met or otherwise have know virtually for pretty well or for a long time.

I want to dive in and out of twitter quickly so I have soon realised I personally don't really like using it for conversations/replies.

I quite like it when someone replies to one of my twitters, but find that I don't seem to want to respond back again.

Personally I am not so partial to the blog promotion aspect of it since I already subscribe to RSS feeds etc.

Initially I was following all kinds of people I felt I didn't really know, and I felt better when I'd reduced the number of people I followed to people I felt more of a connection with.

I love it for keeping in better touch with my family, especially when I going through a dry spell with other forms of communication.

I like using it from my cell phone.
