Images and Blogs

So I'm still new to blogging and the one thing I'm still having issues with are images--the best way to upload, where to host them, how to link them, size them, etc.

I've been using Hello/Picassa from the beginning (as I thought this was my only option). I've been trying to figure out how to size the images once they're uploaded through Hello. Is this even possible or must I do it before uploading?

I noticed on a previous post that several bloggers have been using Blogger Images, but at least one person is finding that it doesn't produce very good results. Has anyone else used Blogger's own uploading and hosting service? What do you think?

I noticed some bloggers using Flickr, but is it pretty manageable (i.e. you don't spend hours pulling your hair out trying to get things to work)? How do you link from Flickr to the blog?

Looking back on this post, may I suggest a "class" on the various ways to upload and host images? Is there anyone interested in teaching. I know I would be a diligent student with virtual notebook ready.

Andrew,

I am very confused. But I think I'm getting the hang of it.

If I'm using blogger, then I guess I can use Hello (which is what am using) or blogger images, correct?

Is there anything else I can use to display images with blogger?

I've been cutting and pasting the html code into single posts. But I haven't played with the html itself (i think i'm just nervous to attempt it).

I've noticed that some blogs have "photo feeds" from flickr. How is this done?

Thanks!

ROse - I will write up my personal solution.
I don't know if it is the best but it works perfectly for me.
And it is free.
It is probably much what you are already doing.
Will try and write up and post this evening.

I'll be curious to see what you have to say, Sam.

In the meantime - Rose, I use Flickr and Blogger. I haven't had a problem with Blogger, and it's so easy since I just upload the image from my computer. Flickr is easy, too, it gives you the link to copy and paste into your post (using html mode).

I've also used ImageShack, but it's my least favorite b/c I can't figure out how to view the image once it's uploaded. I don't think there's even a way.

Hands down there can't be a more secluded technology than getting your images correctly edited and up on your blog. For each blogging system, it's different.
I wish I could salve your grief, I've been there myself.
What helps for me is to listen to Don Ho until I get a vision. In this I can offer solice.

Flickr has a "Blog This" button that allows you to post to your blog.

Flickr is free to use unless you want to store more than 200 images.

I use www.photobucket.com to host most of my images. They also give you the option to post pics to your blog.

If you want to see what flickr or photobucket pic posts look like in a blog, you can check out mine. http://cakefun.blogspot.com

If you're using firefox, my sidebar won't display right...sorry. Haven't figured out how to fix it yet.

Thank you to everyone who replied.

Sam--You're a food blog wonder goddess. You're post on how you upload and edit is exactly the "class" I was hoping for. I already use Hello/Picassa, so I'm going to stick with that route. Thank you for taking the time to write it all out.

Cathy and Lisa--I heard from a friend as well that Flickr is easy to use. I checked out Lisa's blog and see how it links. Nice and easy. Thanks!

Biggles--hee hee, love technology, but the different options makes it so CONFUSING.

Again, thanks everyone for the info!
