Here is the code for new Blogger Beta users. I had to create me a Beta account for this. Maybe a certain person will even thank me for my efforts this time. :)
To hide the navbar, insert the code that is highlighted in red in between the codes highlighted in blue (this is located at the bottom of the template).
< /div >< /div > < !-- end outer-wrapper -- >
< type="'text/css'">
#navbar-iframe {
height: 0px;
visibility: hidden;
display: none;
}
< /style >
< /body >
< /html >
To take the blank space out of the top of the header and make the header flush to the top, insert the codes highlighted in red as shown below within the codes highlighted in blue (that is located on top of your template).
body {
background:$bgcolor;
margin-top:0px;
color:$textcolor;
font:x-small Georgia Serif;
font-size/* */:/**/small;
font-size: /**/small;
text-align: center;
position: relative;
top: -10px;
}
...Enjoy!

Mae, you are simply the best person in the world. No doubt about it.
I loved the icon you designed for Anna too, for the Festive Food Fair. You are so generous to help all of us.
Mae, I just have to say thanks even though I don't need this right now but who knows, I might need it in the future and then I will know where to go! You're too nice!
kalyn, you beat me to it with 14 seconds...
Ilva, more proof that we're on the same wavelength!
Kalyn & Ilva, thank you both. I do what i can to help. :)
Ilva, if you have the old blogger, you can follow the link to the codes i posted the other day. Works like a charm. :)
Mae - I posted a thankyou note on the earlier posting, but let me repeat it here. I shall try the code out tomorrow on my test blog and I'm sure it will work.
Then I will migrate to beta shortly and write a piece on the experience, including notes on anything that I find that doesn't work at first and how I sorted it.
Once again, thanks to everyone who helped address this issue.
Mae - thanks to your efforts I have now managed to make it work on my beta test blog.
I didn't use the same template, so I don't have exactly the same code as you for inserting the new code. But I found that if I put the first section of your code just after <head> and the second section of your code just after body { it worked just fine.
The only other little point was that as my template had a larger header, I had to change the -10px to -30px.
Once again, thank you so much for the help and thanks to everyone else who made contributions as well.
woo hoo - another Food blog scool success story.
Star pupil Mae!
Trig, i'm very pleased it worked like i knew it would. Glad to be of help.
Sam, thanks! Yey! :-)
Thank you Mae!! I lurk around here and finally had some free time to mess around with my HTML and it worked!! YAY!!
I just had to make one tiny edit to make it work on my blog - it needed "style" before the first "type."
HTML is not exactly my thing, but I compared the html to your test blog and saw that style was missing and when I added it, it worked!!
Thank you so much for generously sharing your time & expertise. :)

Sorry all for the extensive spamming. I kept getting an error message and reposting. :(
Anyway, the spirit of my spam was good and it was to thank Mae for helping me beautify my blog.
Again, sorry!!
