[Blogger] Beta - Food Blog S'cool Clarification

THIS BLOG HAS NOT YET BEEN INVITED TO MIGRATE TO BETA SO IT IS CURRENTLY NOT UP TO ME TO SWITCH IT OVER as some people have been suggesting.

As I understand it and according to the information I have seen (please correct me if I am wrong)...

Bloggers are now able to make the switch to Beta without losing their access to food blog scool, it is not an issue any longer for beta bloggers as it once was. You no longer need to unsubscribe from FBS before making the switch.

If I switched this blog to Beta (I can't since blogger have NOT invited me to) it WOULD be an issue to all those members who also have not yet been invited to Beta, since they would then lose their FBS membership and i would have to sign them all up again. (I don't want to have to do this).

I imagine that this blog will switch when ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE has been invited to join Beta, and there is a consensus that it is stable enough to be generally acceptable.

Am I right in thinking you still can't switch to Beta until blogger have invited you to do so?

Sam I think you are right. Even more confusing, on my student's blog we were invited to switch for a week or so, and then the link to switch simply disappeared. Who knows why?

I haven't been offered the beta upgrade either ... I'm worried that I'm holding things up.

I've never actually POSTED on fbs ... but I comment and read all the time.

So if you want me to "quit" from the dashboard in hopes that we actually get to go through with the upgrade, just say the word.

I keep getting a message that I'm invited to make the switch to Beta and when I go through the process I get a message telling me, Sorry, can't do it just yet. Weird.

My apologies Sam. I don't think I understood what all was was being said and just read the most recent stuff rather than going down the thread. Thanks for clarifying.

Kalyn- the offer screen comes and goes. I've had the Dashboard up all day while switching back and forth btw FBS and my blog and sometimes I get the invite and sometimes I don't. It may be random.

Cybele- on the home page you are "invited" to log in via Blogger or Beta. So theoretically the offer is always up, just not always up on the dashboard.

Christine- that's... weird.

IT is clearly a bit of a problem right now - I tried to switch, got told I couldn't, gave up, later thought I had switched and now I cannot post to my blog at all...

I've been invited to switch, but am still new enough to blogger that I don't feel like negotiating a newer set of stuff. Just figuring out how to get blogger to load photos has been a challenge. I guess eventually I might wish that I had switched, but it sounds like the reason it is still BETA is that they are working out the kinks.

I still can't switch, despite the fact that I was offered the opportunity to do so. this morning, no sign of the offer to switch over.

I started a new blog in Blogger Beta in November. Haven't done much with it yet, but I love the ease of editing that Beta affords. And making template changes is a breeze compared to the regular Blogger, especially for the html-challenged, such as myself. So, to anyone who actually CAN switch to Beta, I say go for it!

Yeah, it's still telling me I cannot switch either... I suspect due to this blog. What a pain.

I have the offer to switch come and go. FBS participation no longer affects the offer, it is a function of Blogger trying to limit the quantity of switch overs at anyone time.

The offer has been relatively stable on my dashboard lately, but I have been too busy to deal with whatever unknowns I'll need to deal with post switch.

Please note: If you do switch, you will not be able to use any of the new features on group blogs at this time (which includes FBS)

FBS does affect the switch over because it is a large blog, not because it is a group blog. If you click through on the link as to why your blog cannot be switched, Blogger specifically mentions a large blog with more than a thousand posts. Believe me, I try to switch every time the option is given to me.

I had the same problem as Christine. I just got an offer today and when I went to switch it said I could not switch because all my blogs could not be switched. The only other blog I am in FBS
