I don't know much about TAGS except Blogger doesn't seem to support them like other blogging software does. Fortunately, Technorati has stepped in to help me get some of these fashionable labels.
Now you can add technorati tags to any posts that you publish. I started doing this about 3 posts ago, and it seems like an interesting concept.
But what I really want to know - is how will tagging my posts really benefit me? Is it actually worth doing?
How do services other than blogger handle the subject of tagging?

Tags, when done correctly, can draw readers to your site, but only from the sites where the tags are stored. For example, technorati tags will only bring you technorati readers, but not from flickr, Metafilter, or other sites that use tags.
That being said, there are people who do read RSS streams of Tags. Often I'll post with the tag "food" or "wine", and have pulled a few readers in that way. Not nearly as much as I get from Google or Yahoo, but even one new reader makes me happy.
Tags are a relatively new concept and has not yet been adapted by mainstream internet users. But it's always good to be ahead of the curve and testing new ways of promoting yoru site.
I automatically tag all my blog entries, but I never see results from Technorait. no big deal, I'll keep 'em, but they don't seem to do much for me.
I realize this is a little late to be commenting on...but I thought I would ask...
Joanna, when you say you tag all your entries, does that mean you put code into every post that looks like this?
[[tagname]]
Where on the post do you put it? First or last?
Im just wondering, because that seems like an easy enough thing to do...
THANKS!

Where on the post do you put it? First or last? And does it appear in a bold way or does it blend in?
