[Template] IE views template changes differently

Hi folks! I need a bit of help. I have just made a few modifications to my template and have run into problems.

In Firefox and Safari the output is perfect. However, when viewed in Internet Explorer, my sidebar seems to have traveled southwards to the bottom of the page. It's a real pain and I have tried to fix it but no luck.

I would really appreciate it if someone would be able to help and talk me through this one!

Meeta, most of the time when this happens it is from photos that are too big. Anything more than 400 px wide seems to bump the sidebar down. In your case in the post "Football Mingle roundup" you have some photos that are side by side and the combined width is more than 400.

I discovered this by going down to the list of previous posts (while in IE) and clicking on them one at a time. For each one except the football mingle post, when I clicked that specific post, the sidebar went back up.

This is a trick I have to use all the time on my student's blog!

The problem is because you don't have a closing <tr> tag after your "Jellyfish in Monterey" picture. There's also an extra ">" after your "Colorful ingredients" picture which you can see right next to the picture.

Opps, I missed that there are missing <tr> tags before your "Carrot Coconut Walnut Apple Muffins" and "Italian Oven Vegetables 2" images. Those are actually what's causing the problem. Fixing the two things I mentioned earlier wouldn't hurt though.

Hi!

I'm wondering if the clearly computer-savvy I am Jack's Brain (or anyone else) could help figure out the coding snafu behind the same exact problem on my blog, www.chocolateincontext.com. Thanks!

Emily,

I can't duplicate your problem, but I'm pretty confident that it's due to your Google ad being wider than the div you have it in (468 vs. 410). If you make the ad smaller or put it above your "main" div (in the "content" div) that should fix the problem.

Kalyn, you solved my problem of the complete sidebar be pushed towards the bottom. My next question to the scool would have been exactly what i am jack's brain solved for me.

I had noticed that on IE over the weekend and it irritated me. On Firefox and Safari it always looked good.

Now I know what to look for. ;-)

I thank you both for your fantastic and detailed help. You are both brilliant.
