On my computer and laptop both, using both IE and Firefox, I can clearly see all three columns with some of the background color showing for several inches on both sides.
Anyone have any ideas why it is not displaying properly on some computers? Anyone who has time to check, please let me know whether you can see all three columns at once on your computer.
Thanks to anyone who takes time to help me. I know most of you know more about this stuff than I do, and I really appreciate the help.

A lot of people have their computer resolution set to 800 x 600 pixels; your blog is set to display at 985 pixels. It will look fine to anyone who uses a higher resolution, but those with lower resolutions will have to scroll.
You could ask your sisters to change their display options--but you can't ask everyone who visits your blog to change. So you may have to decide whether you like the new template well enough to risk causing some of your visitors a little extra trouble. If you have StatCounter or a similar program, you can check it to get a sense of how many visitors are using the lower resolution.
Susan, thank you so much for solving this for me. I do have statcounter, and it looks like a small percentage of the people can't see it properly, but still I think I'll put some kind of a note about it in the sidebar. Thanks again!
So, I use a Mac, and I can see it properly on both Firefox and Safari, but on IE I see it like your sisters...
Unlukily this appen to every blog I know: on IE for mac are not diplayed properly...
Luckily almost no one uses mac AND IE to surf the internet!!!
It happens with my blog too...
Kalyn,
Just another data point: I do my blogging (including browsing) on my laptop which is set to 800 x 600 because the screen is small. BTW, I have a blog -- currently on hiatus -- that's three-column and displays fine on my laptop: www.earthandhearth.com. It's a function of your settings and not inherent to the format.
Kevin, thanks for clarifying. Susan was right, it's the fact that my blog is set to display at 985 pixels and not the three column format that causes the problem. I put a message in the sidebar which I hope will help. I guess I will always have drop-in visitors who can't see the whole thing, but so far several regular readers have told me they were happy to change to see the whole thing.
Well, I am adding this to the things I learned today. I know zilch about pixels and screen size so that was an interesting post for me to read. Oh, K, I can read your blog fine! So I guess my screen is set to that larger number.
I don't know if this would help but when i go to your site i get the same thing but what i do is,
I click on 'maximise/restore' button which is located in the middle on the top right corner of the window (where the '_[]X' buttons are - it's the one in the middle).
This should cover the whole of the screen window without having to side scroll.
