SITEMETER PROBLEMS

Sitemeter seems to be acting hazy. Not just for me but for a lot of people. It seems to have slowed down counting hits or stopped counting all together. Sitemeter hasn't made an announcement but just a general Technorati search seems to show a lot of blogs noting this problem the last few days.

My own proof is that today my hit stopped at 12 and has not changed all day (I normally get around 350 a day). Plus the referrals, out click, and in clicks keep updating every few minutes, but not the actual number. So activity is happening, just not being recoreded.

Anyways, just letting people know. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Yes, mine stopped counting sometime after 4:50 AM (eastern time). I didn't realize it was a larger-scale problem. Thanks for letting us know.

Have you switched to new blogger recently? If you did, the Sitemeter code must have got bumped off. It happened to me and I've just put it back in after about 10 days - it took off from where it left.
I thought it was acting up because I had a similar experience (to yours) earlier when I was on old blogger. Funnily enough, after I switched to new blogger (and before I realised the code was missing) Sitemeter counted two visitors in 10 days - I wonder how it did that!

I had this issue a while ago and they told me it was an issue with one of the sites on the server getting way more traffic than expected.

It did eventually clear up. Eventually.

Hi Sra, I don't think it's a new blogger issue. Sitemeter stopped counting our hits at about 6 am (EST) yesterday. Doesn't seem to have started up yet either.

Mine has stayed dead into today. I signed up for a new sitemeter and put it and the old one up. If the old one kicks back in in the next few days, then great. If not the old one is there with the old count at the bottom.

It's not a new blogger issue since I switched months ago with no problems.

Sitemeter has yet to issue an announcement about problems, which is odd since the problem seems to be spreading quickly to many bloggers (four more I know of apparently kicked out yesterday).

I like sitemeter and the information it gives, so like I said, I just started a new account and added it along with the old one and will wait a week to see what happens.

Hi Garrett, I'm curious whether your new Sitemeter account has been working?

It seems to still be down on the counting hits end, although I've noticed that it's kindly adjusting my daily hit averages to correspond to the big fat zero that's been sitting there for the last few days.

Sitemeter posted a new update today saying they're aware of "delays" and "lags." It seems to be much more than a "lag," though . . .

The new one I added is working fine, but the old one still sits there dead and frozen. I dunno... I'll give it time and see what happens...

Mine has now been dead for three days - I guess it's time to add a new one? Does that seem to be working for people?
