[img] problems with blogger img upload?

hi all!

for the last day, i have been having a very odd problem with uploading photos for my blog.

i use HELLO - the little tool to upload photos directly to blogger. when i look at the image in say, photoshop or in explorer, it looks fine - 200x150 px. after i upload it to blogger, the image is cut off at the bottom. the image itself is 200x150, but for some reason, the bottom part is white.

for example, this:

looks like this:

(i have no idea how it worked this time, but for everything else, it's getting cut off)

am i doing something wrong with photoshop? is there an issue with the HELLO tool, or is it blogger?

any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

The last few days when I upload pictures to Blogger (using the regular Blogger button) they don't show up until I click *html* and then back to *compose*. Once I do that the photo is there and looks fine. Don't know if it's related to the problem you're having but it might be.

I'd been using hello since I started my blog 1-1/2 years ago. The second to the last time I used it, I had the same thing happen--over and over and over on different photos. I'd had it happen once or twice before, but that was it. At the same time, I would get a message flash on the screen that said hello was going away by the end of 2006.

Not long after, I couldn't get hello to even open so I figured it had shut down. I switched to using the Blog This! button in Picasa as they suggested, and it has been working fine.

However, if you want that nice black border on your photos, you have to go in and paste this over the part that says cursor hand (don't paste over the quote marks, just the two words):

BORDER-RIGHT: #000000 1px solid; BORDER-TOP: #000000 1px solid; MARGIN: 2px; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 1px solid; BORDER-BOTTOM: #000000 1px solid

Also, an annoying little picasa logo thing is placed by the photo, but I just delete that part. There might be a way to have it not upload. Anybody know?

The weird thing about that photo problem? I posted two pics on my blog that had the bottoms missing like yours, and days later they mysteriously fixed themselves.

One last thing. For anybody who uses hello or picasa and doesn't like the fact that when you upload a photo it automatically is created in a new published post: create a different private blog and use it to upload your photos. Then simply copy them to a post in your regular blog. Hope this helps!

I have had this problem arbitrarily a few times too, recently.

But as farmgirl says, the death of Hello is nigh. Fred is delighted, he HATES how the Hello window is forever popping up on his computer. Oh well, I liked it whilst it lasted.

I did what farmgirl does - in having a separate blog just for my pictures.

I could post a lot of pictures very fast with hello, and I dont think blogthis is as fast, but only time will tell - they say they will be making improvements to blogthis too. we will see.

Hi Sam,
Oops. I should have mentioned that you're the one who told me ages ago about creating a separate blog just for photos. Thank you! : )

And for anybody who knows how technically challenged I am and was shocked to see me offering up the black photo border code--I didn't come up with that on my own either. Clare (Eat Stuff) & Casey solved the problem for me. I'd be lost without my food blogging, computer genius friends!

Oh NO - Hello is going away? That's what I use. I am not a big fan of Picasa at all - I don't like having to organize my numerous pics in there - so this is very disturbing news. :(

*sigh* it is still happening, and i swear this is affecting my sanity.

i don't like picasa at ALL. in fact, it doesn't seem to show all of my pictures. if i crop photos in photoshop then rename them from the IMG_ name, they never show up in the picasa window.

*sigh* again.

i think i will try just uploading directly to my photoblog from within blogger
