Word Verication Option on Blogger

Thanks to Tana of Small farms, I went to check out some blogger settings.
I found out about the word verification option.
(found under blogger->settings->comments)

I have instigated it for this blog, hopefully it will get rid of the spammers.
Lets see.
If it doesn't work, we can add a registered users only option.
(where only blogger registered commenters can leave comments)
Failing that we can go one stage further and only allow blog members to comment.
I would prefer not to have to go that far.

But we'll take it one step at a time and see if this first step eliminates the spammers successfully.

I think that's a great idea to stop the spam. I guess I have arrived because tonight I received the first spam comment on my blog. Very annoying.

Thanks! I hadn't noticed this feature in Blogger before.

That's a cool idea. Spam is so bothersome!

I admit though, I sometimes have trouble reading the little letters they want me to type in. (When there is a grid backround, like on Ticketmaster) Glad to see this version is clear!

Wahh! I haven't been spammed yet! Nobody likes me...
:P
Thanks, though. Just in case.

I found this post very informative.

I have a blog. It is about Rotary Manifold Cross Sprung Ratchets. Hope you'll visit...

Cool link - I will add this the very moment I get my first spam comment. One of the big benefits of being unpopular/not visited by very many people because you are really a grouch is that nobody spams you!

Well this topic was very timely, because I've been getting a TON of spam this weekend. I switched it to registered users only, but will try the word verification thing first now instead. Argh!

Thanks for posting this! I'm always worried about my way of writing and didn't know which tool to use.
