I needed a place to host some PDF files for download from my blog (Blogger). After doing some research I found fileden, which is one of the few free hosting sites for miscellaneous file types that allows hotlinking directly to the file (without the user going to the host's web page). Many hosting sites seem to delete files after 30 days of inactivity, but it appears that this isn't the case with fileden.

I can't figure what's in it for the company if hotlinks are allowed, since it doesn't direct users to ads.

Well, I think that EggDisk has the better deal with 6 gigs of free file hosting and file storage for life. So much better and so much cooler. And, without registering, you can host images up to 20 megs.
