Update on the blogger switch...

I know I'm not the only one who has had the "invitation" to upgrade to the new blogger, but then told you could not when you tried to accept it. I did my daily check to see if I could this morning and it actually gave me the option to change over the blog.

I will actually change over tonight since I've heard it can take a bit of time for some blogs with large amounts of posts. Has anyone else been able to switch over now that could not before?

Thanks so much for the update Joe! I just checked and it finally let me move on over to beta. I had about 400 posts I am guessing and it took less than 5 minutes. Good luck!

Yikes. I am still terrified to switch, but now blogger will not let me into dashboard on any of my blogs (school and KK blogs). All I get is a page that says "Switch Now" with lots of reassuring information and no way to bypass that page.

I've even tried closing my browser and signing into blogger.com again, and when I do I get that same "Switch Now" page. Is this happening to other people. Have I used up my chances and now they're forcing me to switch?

Alicat, your blog looks fantastic. I did feel a bit reassured when I looked at it and everything seems fine.

Sometimes I feel so stupid. Alanna just reminded me to clear the cache and now I can get in to my dashboard again.

Kalyn: dont feel stupid! It isnt you, its a crappy user interface that is failing you. Glad the cache-dump worked. If that happened to me I dont think I would think to dump the cache and it would make may day pretty lousy.

I may be posting this twice. I just did it, with butterflies in my stomach the whole time.

What evil now awaits me?

I switched! Not sure why this time worked, but it did. Couldn't switch FBS over, though. Apparently I don't own it ;-)

Can't wait to get home from work so I can play!

I had loads of problems not being invited, then being invited and not allowed, but eventually it worked and I had no serious problems (look at my earlier post for the minor issues I had).

I finally got to switch yesterday after many reneged invitations. Now some weird log in as Google or blogger stuff. Haven't had time to look at anything yet.

january 25th blogger is the day they've started moving everyone across, old blogger is on it's way out. It's not a matter of maybe, you will have to move.
Seriously, it's not the great evil that it's made out to be. Backup your template and your site, then follow the instructions.

Yes !
I've switched this morning, after a month or so I couldn't.
It was very quick, 2-3 minutes for all my 3 Blogs (my main Blog has 290 posts)
It looks everything works fine till now.. :-)

I have done it too this morning and all of my 6 blogs went ok, Lucullian with 850 posts too 15 minutes while my Swedish food blog with 979 post took 5 minutes, explain that?! I can tell you that I was very nervous those 15 minutes but everything looks ok to me, even the statistics meters and the haloscan comments went ok! No hitches so far! I'm surprised.

Yeah, I finally did it. I received the link to do it a while ago, but it wouldn't switch me over - probably because I belonged here. Today, however, it switched me over no problem.

Switching over was seamless and easy.

Switching my template to the new system took quite a while, but I was able to get most of it customized and back to looking like its old self. Except for a few things - like my text clumping in spaces - I'm pretty much done.

Love using the new features - it's much easier to edit your template and I like using labels. I'll be doing a lot of work getting old posts labeled - that will take a long time but can be done here and there.

Phew!

Ditto Alicat--I had been checking every once in a while, but forgot for a few days. I just did the switch--didn't take too long, maybe half an hour total? for 3 blogs.

I've been running parallel blogs on old and beta blogger. I really like some of the new functions but have a question when adding links.

In original blogger, it was very easy to set up links that would open in a new browser. Couldnt figure out how to do that in the beta. Any help appreciated.

Yes, I couldn't do it before but they pretty much "made" me do it last night. Internet Explorer crashed before it was done (not sure whose fault it was). Last night, I kept getting bounced from posting and uploading comments and boy was I ranting and raving.

In spite of a rough "first date," today it seems to be ok. It looks like when I used new blogger for one blog, it moved me over for all of them (I have a separate blog for categories and still another one for playing around with templates).

Now I'm looking forward to taking it out for a spin.
